Interview
: SilentStorm of Brazil Hackers Sabotage. -
Fr version -
1
- What is BHS .
The "Brazil Hackers Sabotage" (BHS) is a group founded on
March 2001, and it is formed by three brazilians (JShalom, SilentStorm
and TuK). The main focus is 'defacements' and the study of technics
and codes to create new attack methods.
2/ You seem to
be the most active group on the web. Explain us why ?
The group objective, since its foundation, is to win the challenge of
being the greatest 'defacer' group of the world.
Today, BHS is at the second place at alldas.org, and it will be at the
first soon.
3/ How many groups
of Hackers exist in Brazil ?
Brazil has a lot of people involved and interested by web security and
attack's. The majority is of young people (from 15 to 25 years old),
seeking just knowledge and fun, fact that makes Brazil full of hacker
groups.
4/ What do you
like in hacking ?
The attacks give us two essential things: knowledge and fun. The possibiliy
of having them both together is what makes the activity so interesting.
5/ That is what
you like on Web ?
The internet is the most powerful communication tool ever made. It is
a very good source of information and
knowledge, not just for us, but for everybody. Although it is still
very hard to find good and organized websites with useful information...
6/ You are not
afraid of the police ?
Our activities are illegal, we know it, but we're not afraid of police,
or any other authorities. I believe that they need to be worried with
hijack, rape, assault, terrorism, and other real police things. To arrest
people who just break security on internet is bullshit. I believe that
there are more important things for them to take care of.
7/ What were
the most curious things you discovered when you were hacking ?
Nothing very strange happens on attacks. The servers are basically the
same. There are some funny situations of course, like attacking a server
where the administrator is operating at the same time. The fact that
you are inside the server and he doens't notice, is very very funny.
8/ The most difficult
hack ?
I believe it is on servers running OpenBSD, because it is not a very
easy one to find, and it doesn't have many vulnerabilities to exploit.
But, nothing is 100% safe, and this may change in the future.
9/ The easiest
hack ?
This is hard to define, because after we've made some attack tools,
the process turned to be more easy. Today we got very good attack methods
for Linux, Solaris, and AIX.
10/ What is motivating
you in hacking ?
The essential motivation, like i said before, is the seek of knowledge.
Who has more knowledge in this area, is the best. Sometimes we have
'external' motivation, like political or personal things... but just
sometimes. Making defacements on government servers, saying what you
think about them is very interesting.
11/do you think
ending hacking in the future ?
We don't think to stop yet. I believe we will never stop. If we quit
doing defacements, we will still be working for security companies,
or something like this, because it is what we like to do.
12/ how to be
good protected against hacking nowadays ?
Today nothing is 100% safe, if it is safe today, tomorrow isn't more.
13/ What do you
think of the hacker scene in the world ?
Its hard to know what 'hackers' represent for the whole world. Some
people like them, some people don't. The fact is: hackers control the
internet, and will control forever. They wont ever disappear.
14/ Have you
ever been in touch with strange people ?
We always receive a lot of e-mails, some of them with threats, but i
don't believe that authorities would make threat's via e-mail, it would
be too pathetic.
